It's a complicated and big city, sometimes more than NYC

Unlike large cities, the airport is located on the edge of the City but within it, so it is relatively close to the center, but remember that it is one of the cities with the most population and, above all, the most traffic worldwide. With this in mind, you will see that public transport, and especially the subway, will be your best ally, besides, it is not as complicated, dirty and dangerous as New York. Of course, the policemen inside it do not speak English.

Among the options to get to the center are:

  • Metrobus (MB)
  • Metro Form 1. As the line that communicates directly with the center does not work right now, you will have to reroute through line 9 (coffee, a bit complicated)
  • Metro Form 2. Line 1 (pink) is the fastest route but it is under maintenance.
  • Uber

Next, I will give you more detail about each of them (click every below item to see details):

Metrobus.
  • As you exit door 7, walking to your left down the corridor, you will find the metrobus stop. It will charge you 30 MXN/1.5 dls.
  • 5
Metro form 1:
  • As soon as the subway reopens, I'll post the instructions below.
Metro forma 2:
  1. When you exit customs house, your first exit will be through gate 8 of the airport.
  2. 2
  3. You will walk around 10 minutes, and you will exit through gate 1. You will see some yellow taxis; I don't recommend them, they are usually expensive like in NYC.
  4. 3
  5. You will continue along the road leaving the airport, about 4 more minutes, following the people, you will turn to your left just under a vehicular bridge, at the second exit and in front you will see a signboard for subway line 5 (yellow ) called Terminal aérea.
  6. 4
    6
  7. You are going to change platforms, being your destination in the other direction, you will have to go down some stairs and take the train 2 stations.
  8. 7
  9. When you get off at the Pantitlán station, follow the signs for the brown line, you will walk about 8 minutes.
  10. 8
  11. On your right hand side, you will go down some stairs to the end.
  12. 9
  13. You will proceed to a short hallway, down a few stairs and continue down a long hallway, turning to your left.
  14. 10
  15. Then you will see a sign for the brown and purple line, you will turn to your left and look for a black gate, there you will turn to your left and now you will locate some stairs.
  16. 11
  17. Congratulations, you'll upload them and you've reached subway line 9 (brown). Yes it is complicated but not like NYC.
  18. From there there are 7 stations, you will get off at the Chabacano station. Keep in mind that the metro is usually very, very crowded, and sometimes it is delayed or stopped, welcome to Mexico City. If there are no setbacks, it will take 10 to 15 minutes. You will exit through the doors that usually open first, and follow the signs for subway line 2 (indigo blue).
  19. 12
  20. Depending on the stairs you take, you will follow the signs and the flow of people, be careful, there is a fork and you will have to take the left turn, with the blue sign.
  21. 13
  22. You will go up some small stairs, turn left and go up another slightly longer set of stairs.
  23. 14
  24. Then you will continue through a corridor and you will take the second stairs that you find, the first ones are the subway exit. You will see the sign with direction Cuatro caminos.
  25. 15
  26. And it will be four stations to the city's zocalo (Downtown). Done! You have arrived at your travel destination.
  27. 16
Uber.
  • This is clearly the simplest way. In fact, the application service is very cheap. It can cost you around 7 to 10 dls depending on the traffic and the time.
  • Only, do it away from gate 1, either on Circuito interior avenue (in front of the subway entrance, instructions on form 2) or gate 5 onwards, because yellow taxis are expensive and have preference against application services. So many coincidences with NYC.
