Who we are
Amaxing was born from two stories crossing in Mexico City: one of us is from Oaxaca and lives here today; the other was born in CDMX but hasn't lived here for years. Between us we know, almost by chance, the most different poles of this city — its markets, its rooftops, its corners that don't appear in any guide. One day we decided it was worth sharing.

Why “chilango”
“Chilango” has been used for years to belittle those who live in this city. We believe it's the opposite: being chilango means having learned to love a huge, noisy and contradictory city, and finding in it something that feels like home. Amaxing exists to show that version of Mexico City — the one of flavors, places, smells and surrealism that you only understand by walking it with a local.

Our symbol
We chose the jaguar — not as caricature, but as symbol. We took it to its simplest form: a gaze that appears between carved stone planes, the geometric stroke of those who carve wood for generations. It's a nod to that Mexican popular craft, and to the silent strength with which this city welcomes you when you already know it.
